Dear
Saints,
Today
we prayerfully read, 2nd
Samuel 20.
David suffers one trial after another, in today's scripture it is
Sheba's rebellion. Joab killed Amasa, more for personal vengeance
than anything else. Sheba's head was delivered to Joab, by a wise
citizen of Abel. David's officers;“23
Now Joab was in command of all the army of Israel; and Benaiah the
son of Jehoiada was in command of the Cherethites and the
Pelethites; 24 and Adoram was in charge of the forced labor; and
Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was the recorder; 25 and Sheva was
secretary; and Zadok and Abiathar were priests; 26 and Ira the
Jairite was also David's priest.”
2 Samuel 20:23-26, English Standard Version (ESV). God loved
David, yet his sin seemed to continue, causing much mayhem.
God said that David was a man after His own heart, but the sin
was still like cancer.

devotional series by Pastor, Glen Aycock;
It's
good to be a man and better to be forgiven. Keep the first thing
first, that is salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
“[Thanksgiving]
I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God
that was given you in Christ Jesus, that in every way you were
enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge—”
1 Corinthians 1:4-5 ESV. Bless God in Thanksgiving as he has
richly blessed you.

Thanksgiving is about? – 2 Sam 19

Dear Saints,
Today we prayerfully read, 2nd Samuel 19. David is at the gate in mourning when Joab causes David to cease mourning. David returns to Jordan not to take Israel by force , but by invitation of God’s people. Like a model for Jesus he forgives his enemy, Shimei and he excuses Mephibosheth. David’s parting with Barzillai is accompanied with a generous offer. Barzillai graciously turns the king’s offer down because of his age. Israel quarrels with Judah. “41 Then all the men of Israel came to the king and said to the king, “Why have our brothers the men of Judah stolen you away and brought the king and his household over the Jordan, and all David’s men with him?” 42 All the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, “Because the king is our close relative. Why then are you angry over this matter? Have we eaten at all at the king’s expense? Or has he given us any gift?” 43 And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, “We have ten shares in the king, and in David also we have more than you. Why then did you despise us? Were we not the first to speak of bringing back our king?” But the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.” 2 Samuel 19:41-43, English Standard Version (ESV). It is far better to forgive those who have offended you than to provoke them to anger. Didn’t Jesus teach us when he said;”…and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. …For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you”.
Thanksgiving devotional series by Pastor, Glen Aycock;
Follow David’s example and Jesus Word by forging your enemies and those who are indebted to you. Continue keeping the first thing first, that is salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. “[Let Us Sing Songs of Praise] Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!” Psalm 95:1-2 ESV. Approach our Lord with praise and thanksgiving. Know that this is what the Thanksgiving season is about.

“[Book One The Way of the Righteous and the Wicked] Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.” Psalm 1:1-2 ESV.
