Where Did We Get That Idea?

Dear Saints,
Today we prayerfully Feast in Esther 7; Esther asks the king to spare her life and those of her family.  God gives Esther favor and in the king’s eye and Haman is condemned. Haman hanged on the gallows which he had built for Mordecai; “9 Then Harbona, one of the eunuchs in attendance on the king, said, “Moreover, the gallows that Haman has prepared for Mordecai, whose word saved the king, is standing at Haman's house, fifty cubits high.” 10 And the king said, “Hang him on that.” So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the wrath of the king abated.  Esther 7:9-10 English Standard Version (ESV).  Here we read of a man’s treachery in his heart as it is turned on himself by our Lord God. If we who are granted God’s mercy listen to and learn from Jesus’ words and take them to heart will never be guilty of sinning like Haman. God’s mercy is summed up in a law of love and forgiveness. “35 And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:35-41 ESV.   God’s Word tells us everything we need to know to live a sin free life.  Turn to God in the name of Jesus whenever you have a need or a question.

1Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. 2 Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. 3 For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. Aren’t I The Best?

Aren’t I The Best?

  June 18, 2013 – Esther 6

Dear Saints,
Today we prayerfully Feast in Esther 6; The Lord God gives King Ahasuerus insomnia so he reads about Mordecai’s prior service. The king is impressed and decides to reward Mordecai.   Haman (being a legend in his own mind) believes the king wants to honor himself not Mordecai.  Haman plots against Mordecai as his friends tell him how to plan Mordecai’s death; “13 Yet all this is worth nothing to me, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king's gate.” 14 Then his wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him, “Let a gallows fifty cubits high be made, and in the morning tell the king to have Mordecai hanged upon it. Then go joyfully with the king to the feast.” This idea pleased Haman, and he had the gallows made.  Esther 6:13-14 English Standard Version (ESV).  I think the lesson we get hear would be two fold;
1.    Is not to count ourselves as more valuable than another person
2.    Talking and plotting against anyone behind their back never turns out good
God left us specific instructions of how to approach those who are caught in transgressions. “1Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. 2 Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. 3 For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. Galatians 6:1-3 ESV.   In the third verse we are told not to think we are legends in our own mind.  Tomorrow we will see what happens to Haman, for backbiting and boasting.

Sing to God, sing praises to his name; lift up a song to him who rides through the deserts; his name is the Lord; exult before him! Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation.” Psalm 68:4-5 ESV

Is your heart healthy?

Is your heart healthy?

  June 17, 2013 – Esther 5

Dear Saints,
Today we prayerfully Feast in Esther 5; Esther's request, let the king and Haman is granted.  Haman heart is filled with hatred and he plans to hang Mordecai; “13 Yet all this is worth nothing to me, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king's gate.” 14 Then his wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him, “Let a gallows fifty cubits high be made, and in the morning tell the king to have Mordecai hanged upon it. Then go joyfully with the king to the feast.” This idea pleased Haman, and he had the gallows made.  Esther 5:13-14 English Standard Version (ESV).  Hatred makes our heart heavy and sick.  Usually when we have a hateful attitude the only one it hurts is us.  If someone offends us and we even think in our heart; “That Jerk!” we have sinned.  By the same token if we see someone who may be in need and we think “What a looser!” we’ve sinned.  If we love God and allow Jesus to rule our mind and heart we won’t have room for sin.  Sing to God, sing praises to his name; lift up a song to him who rides through the deserts; his name is the Lord; exult before him! Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation.” Psalm 68:4-5 ESV.  When are praising God and sharing our faith in Jesus we have the right and light heart.
