Today’s Feast
The Day of the Lord Is Today!
Dec. 27, 2013– 1 Thessalonians 5
1 Thessalonians 5 “The apostle exhorts to be
always ready for the coming of Christ to judgment, which will be with
suddenness and surprise. (1-11) He directs to several particular duties.
(12-22) And concludes with prayer, greetings, and a blessing. (23-28)” - Matthew Henry Concise
Dear Saints,
In 1 Thessalonians 5 Paul tell them to be ready for the return
of Jesus. Keep doing the good works that Jesus has called them to and to
remain physically and morally clean.
The day of the Lord will come just when no one expects it. “23 Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and
may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of
our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it” 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 - English Standard Version (ESV).
Why
do we continue to follow Jesus and call people to
serve him over two thousand years since this letter was written? Maybe because through Jesus we have received
that peace that is beyond reason in the Holy Spirit. I know this much Jesus is coming and God
never lies (see Hebrews
6:18) God’s Word tells me so. “1 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,” Psalm 103:1-2 ESV. Honor Jesus in
everything you do and say (see Colossians 3:17). Join me Saints in letting
Jesus be the center of our life at school, work, play, and wherever else we may
be.

Thessalonians 3-4
I Thessalonians 3 “The apostle sent Timothy
to establish and comfort the Thessalonians (1-5) He rejoiced at the good
tidings of their faith and love. (6-10) And for their increase in grace.
(11-13)” - Matthew Henry Concise
I Thessalonians 4 “Exhortations to purity
and holiness. (1-8) To brotherly love, peaceable behaviour, and diligence.
(9-12) Not to sorrow unduly for the death of godly relations and friends,
considering the glorious resurrection of their bodies at Christ's second
coming. (13-18)” - Matthew Henry
Concise
Dear Saints,
Today
we prayerfully continue our Feast in the book of Colossians. By reading 1 Thessalonians Chapter 3 & Chapter
4
Joining the Saints on our
three year journey reading every word in God’s Word is a great way to start
the New Year. “17 So
faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” Romans 10:17 (English
Standard Version) ESV. When we have completed our journey
together you will know what God said about every subject. All this in can be accomplished in about 15
minute a day.

Happy Birthday Jesus!
Dec. 25, 2013– I Thessalonians 1-2
“This epistle is generally considered to have been the first of
those written by St. Paul. The occasion seems to have been the good report of
the stedfastness of the church at Thessalonica in the faith of the gospel. It
is full of affection and confidence, and more consolatory and practical, and
less doctrinal, than some of the other epistles.” - Matthew Henry Concise
I Thessalonians 1 “The faith, love, and
patience of the Thessalonians, are evident tokens of their election which was
manifested in the power with which the gospel came to them. (1-5) Its
powerful and exemplary effects upon their hearts and lives. (6-10)” - Matthew Henry Concise
I Thessalonians 2 “The apostle reminds the
Thessalonians of his preaching and behaviour. (1-12) And of their receiving
the gospel as the word of God. (13-16) His joy on their account. (17-20)”
- Matthew Henry Concise
Dear Saints,
May Jesus birthday bring
you, your friends and your families all of the blessings God has intended for
those who wait on the Lord! “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government
shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 ESV. Merry
Christmas! Share Jesus’ birthday with
all mankind!
I know Jesus wants you to have an abundant life. Is Jesus calling you? Do you want to be set free? Do you want to find true happiness, peace
and purpose in your life? If the

Celebrate
Jesus On Christmas Eve!
Dec. 24,
2013– Colossians 4
Colossians
4 “Masters to do their duty towards servants.
(1) Persons of all ranks to persevere in prayer, and Christian prudence. (2-6)
The apostle refers to others for an account of his affairs. (7-9) Sends
greetings; and concludes with a blessing. (10-18)” - Matthew Henry
Concise
Dear
Saints,
In Colossians 4 Paul
is urging those in power to take care of those who work for them just as God has
cared for them. Continuing constantly in
prayer in the name of Jesus. We are to
be examples of Christian life in no matter what we are doing. Paul prays that God’s grace be with them in
his closing greetings to the Colossians. “17 And say to Archippus, “See that you
fulfill the ministry that you have received in the
Lord.”
18 I, Paul, write this greeting with
my own hand. Remember my chains. Grace be with you.” Colossians
4:24-25 - English Standard Version (ESV).
How do you think Paul would be closing the epistle if we
were the saints he was addressing today?
He would probably say never to cease celebrating the
birth
of our Lord and Savior Jesus. Let our
light continue to shine in its fullness for those wise enough to be seeking
Jesus. “1 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of
Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, 2 saying,
‘Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it
rose and have come to worship him.’” Matthew 2:1-2 ESV. Honor Jesus in
everything you do and say (see
Colossians
3:17). Remember God sent Jesus to save the world not
condemn it.
Can you hear Jesus
calling you? Do you want God to set you
free? Do you want to find true
happiness, peace and purpose in your life?
