“15
"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are
ravenous wolves.” Matthew
7:15
Dear
Saints,
Today we prayerfully continue our Feast by reading the
book of 2nd Peter Chapter 2;
“Believers are cautioned against false teachers, and the certainty of their
punishment shown from examples. (1-9) An
account of these seducers, as exceedingly wicked. (10-16) But
as making high pretences to liberty and purity. (17-22)
Verses
1-9 Though the way of error is a hurtful way, many are always ready to walk
therein… Take heed what you do. His
wisdom and power will surely effect the purposes of his love, and the
engagements of his truth; while wicked men often escape suffering here, because
they are kept to the day of judgment, to be punished with the devil and his
angels.
Verses
10-16 Impure seducers and their abandoned followers, give themselves up to
their own fleshly minds… Many such there
have been, and are, who speak lightly of the restraints of God's law, and deem
themselves freed from obligations to obey it. Let Christians stand at a distance
from such.
Verses
17-22 The word of truth is the water of life, which refreshes the souls that
receive it; but deceivers spread and promote error, and are set forth as empty,
because there is no truth in them... Is thy backsliding a grief to thee? Believe
in the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved.”
- Matthew
Henry Concise
In every age it seems there are those who because of
their own lust pervert the Word of God, (see 2 Peter 2:1-9)
to disguise their own sin. They tear apart religious organizations by
denying God’s Word (see
2
Peter 2:10-16) bringing down those who seek redemption without putting their
faith in Jesus. We see them today boasting in their sin, (see 2
Peter 2:17-22) perverting God’s Holy Word; “ 22
What the true proverb says has happened to them: "The dog returns to its own
vomit, and the sow, after washing herself, returns to wallow in the mire."
”
2
Peter 2:22
English Standard Versions (ESV). I’ve
said it before “No Saint should ever apologize for God’s Word, we should live by
it”; (see Matthew
12:31)
but instead there are always those who will commit their life to
sin.
“6
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected
knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten
the law of your God, I also will forget your children.”
Hosea 4:6
ESV. Those who fear God and seek him in
truth and spirit (see Proverbs
1:7)
will not despise God’s Word. Those who
feast in God’s Holy Word (see Romans
10:17)
will grow strong in their faith.

“28 And Agrippa said to Paul, "In a
short time would you persuade me to be a Christian?"” Acts 26:28
An Overview;
“This epistle clearly is connected with the former epistle
of Peter. The apostle having stated the blessings to which God has called
Christians, exhorts those who had received these precious gifts, to endeavour
to improve in graces and virtues. They are urged to this from the wickedness
of false teachers. They are guarded against impostors and scoffers, by disproving
their false assertions, ch. 3:1-7 ,
and by showing why the great day of Christ's coming was delayed, with a
description of its awful circumstances and consequences; and suitable
exhortations to diligence and holiness are given.” - Matthew Henry Concise.
Dear
Saints,
Today
we prayerfully continue our Feast by reading the book of 2nd Peter Chapter 1; ”Exhortations
to add the exercise of various other graces to faith (1-11) The
apostle looks forward to his approaching decease. (12-15) And
confirms the truth of the gospel, relating to Christ's appearing to judgment. (16-21).
Verses
1-11 Faith unites the weak believer to Christ, as really as it does
the strong one, and purifies the heart of one as truly as of another; and
every sincere believer is by his faith justified in the sight of God. Faith
worketh godliness, and produces effects which no other grace… Those who are
diligent in the work of religion, shall have a triumphant entrance into that
everlasting kingdom where Christ reigns, and they shall reign with him for
ever and ever; and it is in the practice of every good work that we are to
expect entrance to heaven.
Verses
12-15 We must be established in the belief of the truth, that we may
not be shaken by every wind of doctrine; and especially in the truth
necessary for us to know in our day, what belongs to our peace, and what is
opposed in our time… This is the way to spread the knowledge of the Lord; and
by the written word, they are enabled to do this.
Verses
16-21 The gospel is no weak thing, but comes in power, Ro. 1:16 .
The law sets before us our wretched state by sin, but there it leaves us... Mix
faith with what you find in the Scriptures, and esteem and reverence the
Bible as a book written by holy men, taught by the Holy Ghost.” - Matthew Henry Concise
Paul
is says that we have what we need to live
a life that pleases God (see 2 Peter 1)
we don’t need a man or an organization to interpreted God’s Word because the
Holy Spirit will be our guide and teacher; “20 knowing this first of all, that no
prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. 21 For no
prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they
were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” 2-peter 1:20-21 English Standard Versions (ESV). No Saint should ever apologize for God’s
Word we should live by it; (see
Romans
1:16) Jesus is the only one
that can save and bless people. “14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ
and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” 2 Corinthians 13:14 ESV. Be encouraged by
the love of God (see Psalm
100:1-2) be humble in your
ministry sharing Jesus as the only perfect man who ever lived.

“20 Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this,
that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written
in heaven."” Luke 10:20
Dear
Saints,
Today
we prayerfully continue our Feast by reading the book of Daniel Chapter 12;
“The conclusion of the vision of the Scriptures of truth. (1-4) The
times of the continuance of these events. (5-13)
1-4.
Michael signifies, "Who is like God," and his name, with the title
of "the great Prince," points out the Divine Saviour… Those who turn many to righteousness, who
turn sinners from the errors of their ways, and help to save their souls from
death, ( James
5:20 ) , will share in the glory of those they have helped to
heaven, which will add to their own glory.
Verses
5-13 One of the angels asking how long it should be to the end of
these wonders, a solemn reply is made, that it would be for a time, times,
and a half, the period mentioned ch. 7:25 ,
and in the Revelation. It signifies 1260 prophetic days or years, beginning
from the time when the power of the holy people should be scattered… Believers are happy at all times; they rest
in God by faith now, and a rest is reserved for them in heaven at last.” - Matthew Henry Concise.
Daniel
is shown the dead will rise to be judged; and those whose name is written in
the Book Of Life (see Daniel
12:1-2) will rise to everlasting life and the others to shame and
everlasting contempt. The Saints that
love the Lord and serve to bring others to Jesus will be rewarded; (see Daniel
12:3-4) Daniel is charged to seal the book. One of the angels asks how long shall it be
till the end another answered; “for a time, times, and
half a time…”; “13
So, Daniel, be faithful until the end! You will rest, and at the end of time,
you will rise from death to receive your reward.” Daniel 11:42-45 English Standard Versions (ESV). Every person who repents and accepts Jesus (see John
3:16) will be rewarded with
life eternal. “23
"Be glad, O children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God, for he
has given the early rain for your vindication; he has poured down for you
abundant rain, the early and the latter rain, as before.” Joel 2:23 ESV. We know that God’s
steadfast love lives forever (see Psalm
100:1-2) and we will sing in loud
voices thankful for the blessings God provides today and until the time of
the end.
