Who Is Complaining?

Today’s Feast

March 28, 2015 – Exodus 16

Who Is Complaining?

9 nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents; 10 nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer.1 Corinthians 10:9-10, New King James Version (NKJV).

Dear Saints,

Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue our Feast in Exodus Chapter 16; The Israelites come to the wilderness of Sin. They murmur for food, God promises bread from heaven. (1-12) God sends quails and manna. (13-21) Particulars respecting the manna. (22-31) An omer of manna to be preserved. (32-36)“ - Matthew Henry Concise.
The fear (False Evidence Appearing Real) has hit the Israelites; “2 Then the whole congregation of the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness. 3 And the children of Israel said to them, "Oh, that we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat and when we ate bread to the full! For you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger."Exodus 16:2-3, NKJV. Looking about from a worldly point of view, they feel that Moses has led them astray. Have they already forgotten the parting of the sea? ”21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided.Exodus 14:21 NKJV. It would seem to me that they would understand that the Lord would provide for their needs; “11 If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish?Luke 11:11 NKJV. This faith is easy for us we have God’s Word. We trust that God will deliver us. If it was us who had lost our job and were faced with the eviction notice we would know all we need to do is ask God; “7 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.Matthew 7:7 NKJV. This fear we see in the Israelites, it is easy to condemn and say; “They still don’t trust God?” Dear Saints they are only human! I dare say if it was you or I facing the unknown we may have some doubt. If we ever need more or stronger faith we know where to get it; “17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.Romans 10:17 NKJV. Hence the reasons for salvation and the feast become clearer, and we no longer need to keep whining or complaining.

Bitter Complaints?

Today’s Feast

March 27, 2015 – Exodus 15

Bitter Complaints?

20 But she said to them, "Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.Ruth 1:20, New King James Version (NKJV).

Dear Saints,

Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue our Feast in Exodus Chapter 15; The song of Moses for the deliverance of Israel. (1-21) The bitter waters at Marah, The Israelites come to Elim. (22-27)“ - Matthew Henry Concise.
Have you ever noticed how easy it is to be a great Christian when we are on the mountain top. I mean when everything is going your way it’s easy to shout; “Praise God!” God’s chosen people are no different when they are on a winning streak, this is Moses song; “13 You in Your mercy have led forth The people whom You have redeemed; You have guided them in Your strength To Your holy habitation.Exodus 15:13, NKJV. Pretty common they are on top of the mountain God is great and greatly to be praised. As soon as they start that descent into the first valley things change. You know like when they cut your hours at work. As you get home the spouse says; “Call a plumber, there’s something wrong with the water!”; “23 Now when they came to Marah, they could not drink the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore the name of it was called Marah. 24 And the people complained against Moses, saying, "What shall we drink?"Exodus 15:23-24 NKJV. We might go off like; “This is all I need they cut my hours at work and now the house is falling apart!” ; “9 "So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 11 If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish?Luke 11:9-11 NKJV. It appears to me God’s people would be better off asking our Father before we complain or become bitter.
