Avoid The Shipwreck!

Today’s Feast Feb. 4, 2016 – Acts 27 Avoid The Shipwreck! clic aquí en español Please join with us sharing God’s Word daily. We will spend about fifteen minutes a day praying and reading every word in God’s Word in approximately three years. “1 I love you, O LORD, my strength. 2 The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”  Psalm 18:1-2, English Standard Version (ESV) Return to Admenu – Admenu’s Alternate Site Dear Saints, Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue our Feast in Acts Chapter 27; “Paul's voyage towards Rome. (1-11) Paul and his companions endangered by a tempest. (12-20) He receives a Divine assurance of safety. (21-29) Paul encourages those with him. (30-38) They are shipwrecked. (39-44)” - Matthew Henry Concise. His faith in Jesus puts Paul on a voyage towards Rome. A dangerous storm bears down on Paul and his companions. God sends an angel to tell Paul all aboard the ship will be saved. Because of his faith in our Lord Jesus. Paul instructs those with him so that all will be saved from the storm. They are shipwrecked, and because the Holy Spirit worked together so that they are all safe. ”42 The soldiers’ plan was to kill the prisoners, lest any should swim away and escape. 43 But the centurion, wishing to save Paul, kept them from carrying out their plan. He ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and make for the land, 44 and the rest on planks or on pieces of the ship. And so it was that all were brought safely to land.” Acts 27:42-44, ESV. You may think that it was coincidence that they were all saved. I tell you it was because of the Holy Spirit that they all were saved. As we can see by the soldiers plan to kill the prisoners, it’s not in man’s fleshly nature to work together that all might be saved. “9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9, ESV. There is a way that any person who will can be saved. In serving Jesus we are keeping the first thing first. The gift of God, salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus. It’s is not in man’s fleshly nature to give up what won’t last for that which is good and eternal. Keep remembering Jesus first, not worldly things. For you have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress.”  Psalm 59:16, English Standard Version (ESV) Return to Admenu – Admenu’s Alternate Site Dear Saints, Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue our Feast in Acts Chapter 26; “Paul's defence before Agrippa. (1-11) His conversion and preaching to the Gentiles. (12-23) Festus and Agrippa convinced of Paul's innocence. (24-32)” - Matthew Henry Concise. The promise by God of our savior Jesus is Paul’s chief defense before king Agrippa. Paul tells of his conversion and preaching to all people. Festus and Agrippa are convinced of Paul’s innocence. ”30 Then the king rose, and the governor and Bernice and those who were sitting with them. 31 And when they had withdrawn, they said to one another, “This man is doing nothing to deserve death or imprisonment.” 32 And Agrippa said to Festus, “This man could have been set free if he had not appealed to Caesar.”” Acts 26:30-32, ESV. Some may say that Paul’s own words delivered him to king Agrippa. I think it was God’s will that he was delivered to the king and his court, after all God’s gift is to all men. “ 6 And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.” Luke 2:6-7, ESV. Think of this Paul was testifying of the same Christ Jesus that was born to Mary! Please help us in keeping the first thing first. The gift of God, salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus. Ask Jesus!

Today’s Feast Feb. 2, 2016 – Acts 25 Ask Jesus! clic aquí en español Please join with us sharing God’s Word daily. We will spend about fifteen minutes a day praying and reading every word in God’s Word in approximately three years. “But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”—”  1 Corinthians 2:9, English Standard Version (ESV) Return to Admenu – Admenu’s Alternate Site Dear Saints, Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue our Feast in Acts Chapter 25; “Paul before Festus, he appeals to Caesar. (1-12) Festus confers with Agrippa respecting Paul. (13-27)” - Matthew Henry Concise. Paul is brought before Festus and there Paul feeling he had wronged no one appeals to Caesar. Festus finding no reason to punish him confers with Agrippa about Paul’s supposed trespasses. ”25 But I found that he had done nothing deserving death. And as he himself appealed to the emperor, I decided to go ahead and send him. 26 But I have nothing definite to write to my lord about him. Therefore I have brought him before you all, and especially before you, King Agrippa, so that, after we have examined him, I may have something to write. 27 For it seems to me unreasonable, in sending a prisoner, not to indicate the charges against him.”” Acts 24:24-27, ESV. Just like Paul, when sharing the true gospel of Jesus, we may be accused of trespass. Because we serve the one true God, if we depend on the leading of the Holy Spirit, Jesus will take care of us. “[The Birth of Jesus Christ] In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child.” Luke 2:1, 4-5 ESV . One thing is for sure, our God is awesome. Jesus promised that he would never leave nor forsake us! Join us in keeping the first thing first. What’s Our Purpose?

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.”  Deuteronomy 6:4-5, English Standard Version (ESV) Return to Admenu – Admenu’s Alternate Site Dear Saints, Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue our Feast in Acts Chapter 24; “The speech of Tertullus against Paul. (1-9) Paul's defence before Felix. (10-21) Felix trembles at the reasoning of Paul. (22-27)” - Matthew Henry Concise. When we hear the speech of Tertullus against Paul, remember these “great” men are not used to being confronted with opinions that are contradictory to theirs. Because he served Jesus wherever he went, Paul’s defense before Felix was sufficient for the day. Felix is impressed enough to bring his wife to hear Paul, but he trembles at the reasoning of Paul. ”24 After some days Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, and he sent for Paul and heard him speak about faith in Christ Jesus. 25 And as he reasoned about righteousness and self-control and the coming judgment, Felix was alarmed and said, “Go away for the present. When I get an opportunity I will summon you.” 26 At the same time he hoped that money would be given him by Paul. So he sent for him often and conversed with him. 27 When two years had elapsed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus. And desiring to do the Jews a favor, Felix left Paul in prison.” Acts 24:24-27, ESV. Paul was carrying the salvation message wherever he went. Because God’s word does not go out without purpose, Paul survives the accusations of both the Roman and Jewish leaders. “And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, to give knowledge of salvation to his people in the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the sunrise shall visit us from on high” Luke 1:76-78, ESV. Wherever God leads, be sure to carry the message of our Lord. Keep the first thing first, salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus. Do We Choose Duty Over Our Rights?

Today’s Feast Jan. 31, 2016 – Acts 23 Do We Choose Duty Over Our Rights? clic aquí en español Please join with us sharing God’s Word daily. We will spend about fifteen minutes a day praying and reading every word in God’s Word in approximately three years. “For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.”  Psalm 86:5, English Standard Version (ESV) Return to Admenu – Admenu’s Alternate Site Dear Saints, Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue our Feast in Acts Chapter 23; “Paul's defence before the council of the Jews. (1-5) Paul's defence. He receives a Divine assurance that he shall go to Rome. (6-11) The Jews conspire to kill Paul, Lysias sends him to Cesarea. (12-24) Lysias's letter to Felix.(25-35)” - Matthew Henry Concise. In Paul’s defense before the council of the Jews, he tells them he has led a godly life and obeys the law. Paul’s defense includes the fact that he is a Pharisee. The Council started arguing amongst themselves because it is made up of both Pharisees and Sadducees. This was because the Pharisees believe in the resurrection and the Sadducees are sad you see because they don’t. God tells Paul that he shall go to Rome. The Jews inter into a pact to kill Paul, so Lysias sends him to Cesarea. Lysias’s letter is delivered along with Paul to Felix. ”31 So the soldiers, according to their instructions, took Paul and brought him by night to Antipatris. 32 And on the next day they returned to the barracks, letting the horsemen go on with him. 33 When they had come to Caesarea and delivered the letter to the governor, they presented Paul also before him. 34 On reading the letter, he asked what province he was from. And when he learned that he was from Cilicia, 35 he said, “I will give you a hearing when your accusers arrive.” And he commanded him to be guarded in Herod’s praetorium.” Acts 23:31-35, ESV. What the soldiers did they do because it was their duty not because they cared about Paul. Paul was delivered to Felix because as a Roman citizen it was his right. The reason Paul was imprisoned was he lived, as a soldier in duty to Jesus, not in privilege because of his rights. “68 "Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people 69 and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David, 70 as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old,” Luke 1:68-70, ESV. Let your duty to God guide you rather than your rights at a citizen. You have the right to disregard people because you don’t like them. You have a duty to share God’s love with them because you have been saved; you are adopted into God’s family. Continue to keep the first thing first, salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus. It may be easier not to be bothered by beggars, but it is better to share the greatness of God. It is better to do your duty to God, than to express your rights as a citizen, when it comes to serving Jesus!
