Works? Joshua 2

7th Year 11-12 Edition 3 – Jos 2 l The Feast l July_25_2012 Joshua 2 Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast in Joshua 2. In Luke we saw Jesus marvel at the faith of the Centurion. As we read the second chapter of Joshua we marvel at the faith or believable acceptance of God by Rahab. “8 Before the men lay down, she came up to them on the roof 9 and said to the men, "I know that the Lord has given you the land, and that the fear of you has fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you.10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and Og, whom you devoted to destruction. 11 And as soon as we heard it, our hearts melted, and there was no spirit left in any man because of you, for the Lord your God, he is God in the heavens above and on the earth beneath” Joshua 2:8-11 English Standard Version (ESV). Did you think that Rahab would be rewarded for her faith? “By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she had given a friendly welcome to the spies.” Hebrews 11:31 (ESV). So as we examine the actions of Rahab we see that her faith has produced works. “And in the same way was not also Rahab the prostitute justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?“ James 2:25 (ESV) In the same personal manner your faith and relationship with Jesus will produce good works. 17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 18 But someone will say, "You have faith and I have works." Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!20 Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless?” Work to keep the faith, by keeping first thing first. That is salvation through the blood of the Lamb. “I hasten and do not delay to keep your commandments.” Psalm 119:60 ESV. Praise Jesus! I am not a Theologian.
