Can we live in harmony with sin?

Can we live in harmony with sin?      May 19, 2013 – Ezra 9       Return to Admenu Home   Admenu’s Alternate Site           Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully Feast in Ezra 9 .  God’s people suffer for not obeying God.  They took wives and husbands from people who worshipped false gods and idols.  “13 And after all that has come upon us for our evil deeds and for our great guilt, seeing that you, our God, have punished us less than our iniquities deserved and have given us such a remnant as this, 14 shall we break your commandments again and intermarry with the peoples who practice these abominations? Would you not be angry with us until you consumed us, so that there should be no remnant, nor any to escape? 15 O Lord, the God of Israel, you are just, for we are left a remnant that has escaped, as it is today. Behold, we are before you in our guilt, for none can stand before you because of this.””  Ezra 9:13-15 English Standard Version (ESV).  God had instructed the people not to mingle with idolaters. Here we see the state of sinners who have turned their back on God and have now allowed the sins of their spouses to come between them and their God.  This remnant is standing before God confessing their sins. They are standing before God with no defense for their actions.  Saints we stand before God with no defense for our sinful life.  Because we are truly repentant and accepting Jesus’ sacrifice for our sin we are justified by Jesus.   We should never fall back into sin by marrying outside of our faith.  “14 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?” 2 Corinthians 6:14 ESV.  That is the point of today’s Feast.  Light cannot dwell with darkness.  The darkness will flee from before the light.  The only way to make a lighted room dark is to remove the light.  The only way a saint can live in harmony with a sinner is to turn their back to Jesus!   Jesus wants you?  Do you hear that small voice calling; sinner com home?  Do you want to choose good over evil?
