2014 – Isaiah 9
Judgment
on Arrogance and Oppression
Share the Feast in
God’s Word; join us as we share God’s Word daily as Easter, Sunday April 20th
approaches!
Isaiah Chapter 9, “The Son that should
be born, and his kingdom. (1-7) The judgments to come upon Israel, and on the
enemies of the kingdom of Christ. (8-21)” -
Matthew Henry Concise
Dear
Saints,
Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading
Isaiah
Chapter 8. This prophet is announcing the coming of Messiah, who
will save God’s people. He calls for
judgment on arrogance and oppression on (see
Isaiah 7:8-9) God’s people. “21 Manasseh
devours Ephraim, and Ephraim devours Manasseh; together they are against Judah.
For all this his anger has not turned away, and his hand is stretched out still.
“
Isaiah
9:21
English Standard Versions (ESV). God’s people can only overcome death
through faith in Jesus
(see
Mark 8:31) the Messiah. “Search me, O
God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any
grievous way in me, and lead me in the way
everlasting!” Psalm
139:23-24 ESV. What
will Jesus find by searching our hearts (see
1 Samuel
12:2-4) for arrogance
and oppression?
