Who said it?  – 2 Kings 18

Feb 3, 2013 - 2 Kings 18

Dear  Saints,

Today we are prayerfully reading, 2 Kings 16.  God has saved us, we should listen to him.  If we don’t like the leaders appointed over us we should cry out to God.  Unless a person is born again the previous two sentences would sound foolish.   Today we see the faith of Hezekiah tested, and he fails to trust God.  Then it’s just like Satan to stir up distrust in God’s people.  Hezekiah did not trust God, so the king of Assyria takes advantage of the situation and starts a campaign of lies.  “30 Do not let Hezekiah make you trust in the Lord by saying, The Lord will surely deliver us, and this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.’ 31 Do not listen to Hezekiah, for thus says the king of Assyria: ‘Make your peace with me and come out to me. Then each one of you will eat of his own vine, and each one of his own fig tree, and each one of you will drink the water of his own cistern,“ 2nd Kings 18:30-31 English - Standard Version (ESV).   He doesn’t threaten the people; on the contrary he offers them a life of abundance.  In every case of a person questioning their faith in God, Satan will be there lying and accusing.  He doesn’t come to people as the ugly black hearted entity he is.  He comes in the form of “good sense” offering abundance and therein is the lie. “But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.” Psalm 59:16 NIV.  Saints When the going gets hard that is the time to take refuge in the Lord.  Remember faith comes by hearing the word of God. Herein is our fight and dependence on God; “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12 ESV.  Let’s keep the first thing first, salvation through Jesus, the Lamb of God.  Put on that helmet of salvation and listen with spiritually tuned eyes and ears.  Look to see from whom the message comes.

LIVING THE CHRISTIAN LIFE- (WED JAN 30, 2013)
SCRIPTURE: 2 PETER 1:5-11
5 ¶ so don’t lose a minute in building on what you’ve been given, complementing your basic faith with good character, spiritual understanding,
6 alert discipline, passionate patience, reverent wonder,
7 warm friendliness, and generous love, each dimension fitting into and developing the others.
8 With these qualities active and growing in your lives, no grass will grow under your feet; no day will pass without its reward as you mature in your experience of our Master Jesus.
9 Without these qualities you can’t see what’s right before you, oblivious that your old sinful life has been wiped off the books.
10 So, friends, confirm God’s invitation to you, his choice of you. Don’t put it off; do it now. Do this and you’ll have your life on a firm footing,
11 the streets paved and the way wide open into the eternal kingdom of our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ.
DEVOTIONAL:  “BUILDING YOUR LIFE”
There is not a minute to waste. Let the construction of our life begin. We have the Master Architect in Jesus Christ. Our job is to build on the foundation of faith in Jesus and to allow the Holy Spirit to give us spiritual understanding. The following are the levels of the building that God wants to build in our life.
1.     Alert Discipline
2.     Passionate Patience.
3.     Warm Friendliness
4.     Generous Love.
5.     Each quality active and growing in your life.
We are instructed to accept God’s invitation and we experience a firm footing and streets paved and the way open into the eternal kingdom of our Lord.
PRAYER THOUGHT: Dear Jesus please help us to cooperate in building these attributes and reflecting your love to the lost. Amen

God Bless you,

Brother Mike

Nano second in eternity!  – 2 Kings 17

Feb 1, 2013 - 2 Kings 16

Dear  Saints,

Today we are prayerfully reading, 2 Kings 16.  God expects His people to love and honor him.  We cannot and must not serve 2 masters. The Israelites were trying to serve multiple gods, and God pulls His protection from them. “36 but you shall fear the Lord, who brought you out of the land of Egypt with great power and with an outstretched arm. You shall bow yourselves to him, and to him you shall sacrifice. 37 And the statutes and the rules and the law and the commandment that he wrote for you, you shall always be careful to do. You shall not fear other gods, 38 and you shall not forget the covenant that I have made with you. You shall not fear other gods, 39 but you shall fear the Lord your God, and he will deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.” 40 However, they would not listen, but they did according to their former manner. “ 2nd Kings 17:36-40 English - Standard Version (ESV).   There is only one God and he wants our hearts to turn to Him only.  “But, as it is written,“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”— 1 Corinthians 2:9 ESV.  Saints if we had any idea what God has in store for us when he takes us home, no one could even think of any other thing.  Can you imagine Jesus greeting you saying; well done my good and faithful one?  With that in mind it is easy to keep the first thing first.  That being salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus.  Let your light shine keep your eyes on Jesus!  Remember this first part of life is less than a Nano second in eternity.

Tick-Tock

SCRIPTURE: 1 JOHN 2: 7-17 (The Message Translation)
7 ¶ my dear friends, I’m not writing anything new here. This is the oldest commandment in the book, and you’ve known it from day one. It’s always been implicit in the Message you’ve heard.
8 On the other hand, perhaps it is new, freshly minted as it is in both Christ and you—the darkness on its way out and the True Light already blazing!
9 Anyone who claims to live in God’s light and hates a brother or sister is still in the dark.
10 It’s the person who loves brother and sister who dwells in God’s light and doesn’t block the light from others.
11 But whoever hates is still in the dark, stumbles around in the dark, doesn’t know which end is up, blinded by the darkness.
12 ¶ I remind you, my dear children: Your sins are forgiven in Jesus’ name.
15 Don’t love the world’s ways. Don’t love the world’s goods. Love of the world squeezes out love for the Father.
16 Practically everything that goes on in the world—wanting your own way, wanting everything for yourself, wanting to appear important—has nothing to do with the Father. It just isolates you from him.
17 The world and all it’s wanting, wanting, wanting is on the way out—but whoever does what God wants is set for eternity.

DEVOTIONAL:  TIC-TOCK

The oldest commandment in the book is; “Love One Another” God has not changed that nor has He made it an option. There is no double life in Christianity. You cannot hate a brother or a sister and love God. Either you are in the light resulting in loving on another or you are in the dark, resulting in being a hater! Here is a reminder list of actions because you are in the Light.
1.     Your sins are forgiven. (vv 12)
2.     Don’t love the world or the world’s ways.
3.     Love of the world and its goods or wanting to appear important squeezes out Love for the Father.
4.     Whoever does what God wants is set for eternity.(vv. 17)
5.     The world is on its way out. Prepare to meet God!

God Bless you,

Brother Mike

Set free from sin! – 2 Kings 16

 2 kings slant

Feb 1, 2013 - 2 Kings 16

Dear  Saints,

Today we are prayerfully reading, 2 Kings 16.  We see more turmoil in the Holy Land, King Ahaz holds the Sabbath in contempt.  He holds God in low esteem as he seeks to please the king of Assyria. “17 And King Ahaz cut off the frames of the stands and removed the basin from them, and he took down the sea from off the bronze oxen that were under it and put it on a stone pedestal. 18 And the covered way for the Sabbath that had been built inside the house and the outer entrance for the king he caused to go around the house of the Lord, because of the king of Assyria.“ 2nd Kings 16:17-18 English - Standard Version (ESV).   Believers should reach out to Jesus when the going gets rough.  Sometimes it is fear that causes men to sin against God. Sin compounds itself when men in desperation, try to please man.  “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.” Deuteronomy 6:4-5 ESV.  God has plans for every ounce of your strength, He wants us to love and trust him above all else.  Let’s keep the first thing first.  That is salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus.  Do we please man over God, when we have sinned?  Putting God first sets us free from sin.  Ask God for help in hard times, when sin is dragging you down, ask for forgiveness in Jesus name, he alone overcame death and corruption. Please see today’s devotional submitted by Pastor Glen.

BENEFITS OF CONFESSION
SCRIPTURES: 1 JOHN 1:3-8
3  We saw it, we heard it, and now we’re telling you so you can experience it along with us, this experience of communion with the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ.
4 Our motive for writing is simply this: We want you to enjoy this, too. Your joy will double our joy!
5 ¶ This, in essence, is the message we heard from Christ and are passing on to you: God is light, pure light; there’s not a trace of darkness in him.
6 If we claim that we experience a shared life with him and continue to stumble around in the dark, we’re obviously lying through our teeth—we’re not living what we claim.
7 But if we walk in the light, God himself being the light, we also experience a shared life with one another, as the sacrificed blood of Jesus, God’s Son, purges all our sin.
8 ¶ If we claim that we’re free of sin, we’re only fooling ourselves. A claim like that is errant nonsense.
9 On the other hand, if we admit our sins—make a clean breast of them—he won’t let us down; he’ll be true to himself. He’ll forgive our sins and purge us of all wrongdoing.
DEVOTIONAL:                            “WILL YOU CONFESS?”
Mankind has a spiritual sickness that if untreated results in being bound in Hell for eternity. Would you move to a residence that all the neighbors had records of molesters, murderers, robbers, and dope dealers, angry men consumed by evil, rapist and mass murderers? The truth of the matter is that if you don’t confess your sin and confess Jesus as the Christ and the way of eternal life then you are headed to such a place for eternity. It is imperative that you make your decision while you are alive. After physical death no amount of praying can save you and it’s too late to choose Christ. This is not a scare tactic but merely the truth. My prayer for you is that if you have not asked Jesus into your life that you bow your head and confess you are a sinner and ask him into your heart. Verse 9 tells us “He’ll forgive our sins and purge us of all wrongdoing.
PRAYER THOUGHT: Dear Jesus I confess my sin and I need you to forgive me and purge me of all wrongdoing. Amen

God Bless you,

Brother Mike
