Song And Prayer.

 Song And Prayer.
September 4, 2013 – Psalms 30

Today’s Feast

Psalms Chapter 30 - “Praise to God for deliverance. (1-5) Others encouraged by his example. (6-12)” - Matthew Henry Concise

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading Psalms 30.  David gives thanks to God for salvation.  His song of praise to God is also his prayer.    “11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
    you have loosed my sackcloth
    and clothed me with gladness,
12 that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent.
    O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!   Psalms 30:11-12 - English Standard Version (ESV).   Make your prayer a song of thanksgiving and glory to Jesus!

 “Follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. By the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you.”   2 Timothy 1:13-14 ESV.

Give The Glory To God?

 Give The Glory To God?
September 3, 2013 – Psalms 28-29

Today’s Feast

Psalms Chapter 28 - A prayer in distress. (1-5) Thanksgiving for deliverance. (6-9)- Matthew Henry Concise
Psalms Chapter 29 - “Exhortation to give glory to God.” - Matthew Henry Concise

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading Psalms 28-29.  The Psalmist Calls on God in his distress.  Then gives thanks to God for deliverance.  He praises God gives God all the glory.   “10 The Lord sits enthroned over the flood;
    the Lord sits enthroned as king forever.
11 May the Lord give strength to his people!
    May the Lord bless his people with peace!   Psalms 29:10-11 - English Standard Version (ESV).   Last month when my great niece ran away from home we enlisted the help of many people and agencies to help find her.  The first thing we did was to turn to Jesus in prayer.  When she was found safe and the authorities delivered to us, I thanked everyone and gave all the glory to God.  I feel God was the one that moved all the people to help and delivered her back to us safely.  In doing so we got the piece and God got the glory.  One man got very angry at the thought that I ascribed the thanks to everyone that helped and gave the glory to God.  He felt I owed everyone that helped more than thanks and that they deserved the glory.  I feel God blessed those who helped with peace because he used them in delivering her safely.  I would really like to know how you all feel after reading today’s Feast.

 “Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go.”     Isaiah 48:17  ESV.

Empty Prayer?

  Empty Prayer?
September 2, 2013 – Psalms 27

Today’s Feast

Psalms Chapter 27 - The psalmist's faith. (1-6) His desire toward God, and expectation from him. (7-14)” - Matthew Henry Concise

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading Psalms 27.  The Psalmist expounds his faith and desire to God.  When he asks anything of God he truly expects God to answer.   “14 Wait for the Lord;
    be strong, and let your heart take courage;
    wait for the Lord!   Psalms 27:14 - English Standard Version (ESV).   Praying to God in Jesus name without expecting an answer is an empty prayer.

 “The earth, O Lord, is full of your steadfast love; teach me your statutes!   Psalm 119:64 ESV.

Remember Job?

  Remember Job?
September 1, 2013 – Psalms 26

Today’s Feast

Psalms Chapter 26 - David, in this psalm, appeals to God touching his integrity” - Matthew Henry Concise

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading Psalms 26.  David expresses his integrity to God.  Did you notice that he told God to test (See Psalms 26:2) him?  “11 But as for me, I shall walk in my integrity;
    redeem me, and be gracious to me.
12 My foot stands on level ground;
    in the great assembly I will bless the Lord.   Psalms 26:11-12 - English Standard Version (ESV).   In my eyes that took a lot of confidence.  Remember Job’s trials?  God’s grace is sufficient for my children and I.

 “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.  Proverbs 22:6 ESV.
